Ethiopia Explorer TOurs
Real Ethiopian Hospitality
We want to show you the beauty, culture and wonderful people of Ethiopia.
Ethiopia is an ancient country whose unique cultural heritage, rich history and remarkable biodiversity are reflected in a tally of nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites – more than any other country in Africa. The remote Omo Valley in the south is home to over a dozen tribes. It is an amazing location for cultural photography. Within its borders, you’ll find the world’s fourth-holiest Islamic city, Harrar, along with the oldest continuously-occupied town south of the Sahara. Compelling antiquities include the medieval rock-hewn churches of Lalibela and Gheralta, palaces and temples dating back 3,000 years, the magnificent 17th century castles of Gondar, and the oldest human fossils unearthed anywhere on the planet. Add to this the beautiful Simien and Bale Mountains, the spectacular volcanic landscapes of the Danakil Depression, and a wealth of mammals and birds found nowhere else in the world.
Who We Are:
Founder and chief guide Degu Hable Tekle was raised in Jinka, deep in the heart of the Omo Valley. Degu is a member of the Ari tribe and proud of his roots. His love of tourism was nurtured at an early age. Living in walking distance to the Ethnological Museum in Jinka he came in contact with anthropologists and photographers who mentored him. Soon enough he was guiding foreigners around the Jinka market. From there he went on to assist international photographers who were traveling solo and in groups. Wanting to further his skills he moved to Addis Ababa and studied tourism at the prestigious Lion College of Tourism. Fluent in English and with an understanding of French and German he has guided throughout the Omo Valley and the northern regions. His local partners have expertise throughout the country. He has a motorcycle and drivers license. He can arrange custom trips, hotels, plane reservations and has a regular driver.
